10 Podcast Episodes to Kick-Start Self-Improvement

November 8, 2017

Since high school I’ve always been the girl who has made an effort to digest as many podcasts, books, talks, movies and conversations to kick-start self-improvement at any given time.

I’m the first person to tell you that I’ve benefited greatly from therapy and so has my marriage. Nothing beats talking with a professional when you’re really in a rut or in need of growth, but that’s not always an option for everyone. Sometimes you’re left to leaning on friends and family and sorting through your uncomfortable emotions on your own, but there are resources that can help you along the way.

Podcasts are a huge part of my daily routine. There are (at least) ten podcasts I’ve listened to where I’ve found myself nodding my head and practically saying yes out loud that I thought I would share with you here. These podcasts are all free, some are as short as 12 minutes some are as long as 2 hours. They might not all be for you, but I guarantee there’s at least one you might enjoy!

1. Emotional Agility with Dr. Cassidy Freitas on Sure, Babe.

2. The One About Boundaries on The RobCast.

3. Eckhart Tolle: Free Yourself from Anxiety, Stress and Unhappiness on Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations

4. How to Get Introverts to Show Up, and How to Navigate the Polarizing World of Pregnancy and Childbirth on Talking in Circles.

5. The Relationship Episode: Love, Sex, Polyamory, Marriage and More on The Tim Ferris Show

6. Are You Walking Into the Wind? on Women Wanting More

7. How to Re-program Your Subconscious Mind on The Marie Forleo Podcast

8. Big Strong Magic featuring Brene Brown on Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert

9. “Science Mike” McHargue on You Made it Weird

10. Failure is an Option on Ted Radio Hour

As you listen through these please let me know your thoughts and if you have a podcast you’d like to suggest please share in the comments!

  • Always looking for new podcasts, thanks! I’ve been loving How I Built This with Guy Raz lately.

  • You really do have the best recommendations, and I always appreciate when you share your finds! I got about 15 minutes into the Emotional Agility episode this morning and can’t wait to finish it. I get up and get downstairs before the rest of my family and usually have about 20 minutes to myself to eat my breakfast, make coffee, and start my day in peach. Having a podcast playing has been my way of occupying myself during this time without resorting to just sitting at the table and scrolling through IG (I finally decided this is a bad an unproductive way to start the day). Will definitely be adding these ones to my list!
