What are your go-to pastries when you’re out and about? Owen eats nearly a pint of blueberries a day and has for months. The blueberry kick seems nowhere close to being over, and has extended to pastries, waffles and anything else he can get “bu-burry”. But who doesn’t love a blueberry muffin? They have been a breakfast staple since Zack and I started dating and they’re just as popular (if not more) in our household today. Plan Ahead: Meal Prep & Make This Easy Southwest Quinoa Salad

What are your favorite recipes to prep for the week over the weekend? When we lived in Brooklyn Sundays were typically spent running to the farmers market and doing what I could to get myself prepped for the week. I would slice fruits and veggies so they were ready and I would even try to make a couple meals that would spread out over the week like salads, quiches and so on.

I can’t tell you how helpful it was to have some meals prepped in advance for the week ahead, especially since I was working from home with Owen without child care.


Homemade Made Easy: End of the Summer Flaky Peach Pop Tarts

The obsession with homemade pop tarts started for me when I was working in a bakery / coffee shop in Phoenix. The bakers always made the best, flaky pop tarts that flew out of the pastry case within minutes.

I had seen first hand how lengthy the process was when you’re making homemade preserves and dough and always chalked it up to being a little outside my comfort zone when it came to baking at home.

This was before I experimented with puff pastry. What a game changer.


A Simple Salad Everyone Will Love

You guys! You guys! This is big. I’ve never been the best at delegating. I was the kid in your group project who just did the entire project because in my head it would just be easier for everyone. Yikes.

That being said, I think I’m growing up. When I first started Household Mag. and even through us living in NYC I shared recipes all the time. I had the same hopes for our life on the road, but it’s been trickier than I expected to cook in unfamiliar kitchens in unfamiliar cultures.
