Prioritizing Our Marriage in the Midst of My Pregnancy

April 17, 2019

Is it just me or have each of your closest relationships gone through an adjustment phase at the start of each pregnancy? Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, life as you know begins to change and at least for Zack and I it takes a little time to find our groove again and re-establish who we are in this seemingly new relationship. It happened when I was pregnant with Owen and it happened / is happening again with June.

What I Learned From My Chemical Pregnancy and Miscarriage

January 10, 2019

I’ve been writing and re-writing this in my head since my chemical pregnancy and miscarriage at the end of October, but I couldn’t bring myself to actually open my laptop and type it all out. Maybe it made it more real, maybe I needed more time to process or maybe, just maybe, for the first time since I started this blog it all just felt too vulnerable and close to the heart to really dive into in the moment.

Mom and Dad Made a Podcast: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck About Parenting

August 30, 2018

Okay, clearly this is a clickbaity title, but it’s only because we both just finished reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson and felt there was so much of the book that could be applied to parenting too. Because, honestly, this book isn’t about not giving a fuck. It’s about choosing what and what you don’t give a fuck about, which in our opinion, is a pretty important life lesson. Tune in as we run through our thoughts on the book, how it helped us gain some new perspective and why we think you should give it a read! Download, listen and subscribe here.

Mom and Dad Made a Podcast: Guest Episode with Dan Carney!

August 22, 2018

On this episode of Mom and Dad Made a Podcast we shoot the shit with Dan Carney, fellow stand-up comedian and friend of Zack’s. In just under three months since Dan moved to NYC he’s worked his way into Stand Up NY as a comic, marketer and together, Zack and Dan produce Stand Up NY’s newest show, Super Giant on Friday evenings. There’s a whole lot of banter on this one, but we still attempt to keep a parenting focus with current events, comedy and a handful of travel tips with our trip to Europe around the corner, all while giving Zack a pretty hard time. Download, listen and subscribe here. And, if you have a moment please rate and review the podcast too, it would mean the world!

And, catch Dan on twitter at @danthemancarney!

Five Affordable Date Ideas You Should Try This Summer in NYC

May 31, 2018

This post was sponsored by Zappos.

After over three years of calling NYC home, it dawned on me that I had never actually been to the Brooklyn Bridge. Ridiculous! Since coming to this realization I made it clear that this was completely unacceptable and put a visit immediately at the top of my New York bucket list. Zack made plans for us to walk across it on Mother’s Day but we got rained out, so I somehow convinced him (and Amy) to wake up and catch the sunrise here instead last week.

Ten Podcasts to Get You Out of Your Funk

May 28, 2018

If you’re an avid listener to either Building Household with Hailey & Amy or Mom and Dad Made a Podcast you know we skipped releasing episodes last week. Sorry guys! We ended up making our way to Rhode Island last Monday to meet and snuggle two of our friend’s newborn baby, introduce Owen to some of Zack’s extended family and eat all the traditional New England foods we could. Needless to say it was a much needed little getaway and a chance to breath in some fresh air in the midst of what feels like a crazy and busy time for us. Regardless of our hectic days, I’m feeling extra grateful that our schedules allow us the flexibility to do trips like this.
