The Perfect Apple Crumble

This apple crumble was brought to you by not one but two episodes of Sesame Street and a big pot of coffee. I’m honestly curious how you guys get any baking or cooking done with young kids? Teach me your ways!

But, in all honesty, except for getting Owen situated this recipe was pretty dang easy. We picked these apples a couple weeks ago on our trip upstate and they were absolutely perfect. Follow the simple instructions below and enjoy!

Ingredients:

+ 10 medium size apples
+ 1 cup flour (substitute GF flour to make this gluten free)
+ 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
+ 1 cup rolled oats
+ 1 teaspoon salt
+ 12 tablespoons butter (substitute coconut oil or Earth Balance to make this vegan)
+ 2 tablespoons lemon juice
+ 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Instructions:

+ Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
+ Butter or spray your 9 x 13 baking dish and set aside.
+ Peel, core and chop apples into ½ inch pieces and place into a large mixing bowl.
+ Add your lemon juice, cinnamon and a ½ cup of brown sugar, stir and place into your baking dish.
+ Melt your butter over medium heat in a small sauce pan.
+ In a medium mixing bowl combine your flour, oats, salt, butter and the rest of your brown sugar. Mix until your dry ingredients are covered in butter.
+ Sprinkle over the top of your apple mixture.
+ Bake for 50-60 minutes.
+ Enjoy!
