Ten Things for the Weekend

November 3, 2017

1. This week’s mantra: “We cultivate love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known, and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows from that offering with trust, respect, kindness and affection. Love is not something we give or get; it is something that we nurture and grow, a connection that can only be cultivated between two people when it exists within each one of them – we can only love others as much as we love ourselves. Shame, blame, disrespect, betrayal, and the withholding of affection damage the roots from which love grows. Love can only survive these injuries if they are acknowledged, healed and rare.” – Brene Brown

2. My heart is with those in NYC who were affected by the horrific act of terror in lower Manhattan on Halloween. If you need to catch up, here’s what you need to know and here’s an article with some tips on how to talk to your kids about shootings.

3. What are your three favorite podcasts? Mine these days are Sure, Babe, The Little Awkward Studio & How I Built This, but I would love to hear yours!

4. Have you heard of The Little Feminist? The Little Feminist Book Club is a monthly book club subscription service for your little ones. Included in your subscription is a book that features a strong female character and/or person of color, educational activities developed by teachers and family discussion questions. They believe that all genders are kind and brave and that the books we read to our kids should encourage them to be exactly who they are. Check them out! They officially launch on November 8th!

5. Did anyone catch this home tour on Design Sponge? Can you tell I’m getting REALLY excited to start decorating our new place!?

6. Are you on ace & jig’s mailing list?! These talented women sell out of their pieces so quickly that I feel an obligation to tell you guys you have to sign up.

7. Four of my favorite, authentic moms to follow on Instagram: @bluebirdkisses, @allieroyall, & @livinglifesmoments!

8. Can you believe Thanksgiving is in three weeks?! I know, I can’t either. What are your favorite sides to make? These look SO GOOD!

9. I just made my first ever purchase from Glossier! Obsessed. What are your favorite products of theirs?

10. It’s officially six months since we left NYC. I’ve had a few people reach out this week about our decision to travel so I thought I’d share this again. Reading it gave me all the feels.

In case you missed it this week on Household:

Owen was Eleven from Stranger Things for Halloween! So. Much. Fun.
