Ten Things for the Weekend

January 26, 2018

With all the buzz this week about social media, influencers, blogging and comparison I thought I would focus these links on the same topic. Scroll through for some helpful articles, podcasts and ideas on how we can find a healthy balance with it all.

1. This Week’s Mantra: “Stay in your own lane. Comparison kills creativity and joy.” – Brené Brown

2. Everyone needs to read How to Have a Healthy Relationship with Social Media on Chrissy Powers’ (a brilliant child and family therapist) blog.

3. Felt like it was the right time to share this podcast episode I was a guest on again, Talking Comparison on Little Awkward Studio.

4. Some thought provoking points here – Your smartphone is making you stupid, antisocial and unhealthy. So why can’t you put it down?

5. Listen to this episode of the Marie Forleo Podcast: Don’t let comparison steal your joy, profits and prosperity.

6. How many of us complain that there aren’t enough hours in the day? The global average of time spent on social media daily is 135 minutes (two hours and fifteen minutes). Even if you cut that time in half you would have an extra hour every day to pursue something that’s close to your heart.

7. Giving the app, In Moment, a try to track how I’m spending my time on my phone. I have a feeling that just having the app set up will help me find ways to limit my time online even more.

8. Are your kids old enough to be actively using social media? Here are 13 Tips for monitoring kids’ social media if you need some guidance.

9. If you haven’t read The Gifts of Imperfection, please do. “Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.” ― Brené Brown

10. I shared an article a couple days ago about social media, influencers and the responsibility we all share. Would mean so much if you have it a read!
