Ten Things for the Weekend

July 28, 2017

You guys, this one computer thing is really starting to wear on us! Did you notice I haven’t shared here all week? So bummed, but I’ve got my eye on the prize. Once we’re in Montreal we will get Zack a new computer and productivity will be somewhat back to normal (at least I hope). Thanks for baring with me! Here are this week’s links for the weekend.

1. This week’s mantra: “I’m not telling you to make the world better, because I don’t think that progress is necessarily part of the package. I’m just telling you to live in it. Not just to endure it, not just to suffer it, not just to pass through it, but to live in it. To look at it. To try to get the picture. To live recklessly. To take chances. To make your own work and take pride in it. To seize the moment. And if you ask me why you should bother to do that, I could tell you that the grave’s a fine and private place, but none I think do there embrace. Nor do they sing there, or write, or argue, or see the tidal bore on the Amazon, or touch their children. And that’s what there is to do and get it while you can and good luck at it.” – Joan Didion | I’ve shared this on Instagram before, but you guys, it’s so good. Reminding myself of this one lots this week.

2. This was shared by a friend of mine and was the perfect, quick podcast episode if you’re feeling stuck.

3. Can’t stop listening to this song.

4. Zack took the night off the other night and we took Owen out to dinner, got him to sleep and watched Joe Mandy’s special on Netflix while we drank a bottle of wine. So needed! Can you believe we haven’t been alone in three months?! How do you guys make date nights happen without friends or family around to babysit?

5. I started listening to this podcast episode with Sam Harris. Only half way through because a two hour podcast when you’re caring for a toddler is a challenge, but it really made me think and I’m egger to finish it. Has anyone else listened to this one?

6. Did you guys read Bethany Menzel‘s piece on Mother Mag about being a social media mom? I thought it was an interesting read for sure.

7. After Iceland we head to Montreal! Any suggestions for our stay there? We will be there for a month and are so excited for all the food!

8. You guys! I’m so excited to tell you we’re bringing back recipes to Household. I’m partnering up with @punch.pastry & Amy Frances Photography to bring you a new recipe each week starting next month! Keep an eye on Instagram and the site.

9. It’s official, I’m home sick and I’ve been pinning like crazy. Share your Pinterest handles below so I can follow you guys for inspiration!

10. Since we’re spending the fall/early winter in Phoenix I’m getting super excited for their “winter”. You know like 60 degree perfection? Are there any brands you guys have been into these days? Since we will be staying with family we will have a little extra room to expand on the Capsule Travel Wardrobe.
